New content for SWTOR announced at E3

Published by under Breaking News on Jun. 04. 2012.

During the pre-E3 press conference in Los Angeles, dr. Ray Muzyka announced the new content we will be seing in The Old Republic this year. It was not mentioned whether this will be a paid expansion or a patch update, but from the rumors it seems this will be given to players for free (unverified). The amount of new stuff certainly warrants for the patch to be called an expansion because every aspect of the game will have something new added to it. Here are the most important things announced along with the content trailer.

  • New companion – HK-51 (we had him on our companions page since December)
  • New playable race – Cathar
  • New level cap
  • New planet – Makeb
  • New warzone – Ancient Hypergates
  • New Operation – Terror From Beyond
  • New Space Mission – Space Station Assault
  • New abilities
  • New version of Nightmare difficulty mode.
  • Free to play up to level 15 starting this July

Had no idea the population exodus had gotten THAT bad.

Cathar. Just when I had given up on a playable feline race in TOR, this happens. I wonder if I should keep leveling or not. I had wanted to play a feline race but it didn’t exist in the choices.

Think they’d let you convert characters to the new race since the option wasn’t originally available?

ok WTF do I do now I have all the races, counting human and cyborg as the same, with all the classes and now they release a new race but no new class I’m ruined.

Cathar, that’s brilliant! I have always wondered why they didn’t include that option and I always wanted one. I think it’s a bit weird that there are so little races available and the ones that are available are not all the most common/the most heard of. What about Rhodians? They’re all over the place. Playing a Rhodian smuggler would be fun.

And about not having it before… well, that’s the whole point with implementing new things, right? Otherwise the game just stays the same forever. I’m not sure what class I’d like to play as Cathar either, but we’ll see. 🙂

And make that a *Rodian, I’m a spelling noob today! 😀

why not fix all the broken crap…then offer expansion?

Rat, what is broken about the game? Everyone is always complaining about how it’s broken and buggy but don’t give specifics. What’s the biggest problem(s) for you? Just curious.

Seriously – what exactly is broken in the game? Class balance is alright. Operations are alright. Yes – we do not have open world PvP – but so neither do any of the major MMORPGs out there (winterspring is not open world – it is instanced). Skills are alright. Quests work. The only real problem the game has is lack of population. You can’t call the game being broken for lack of population.

Exactly. People just love to complain.

one thing i have noticed that is either broken or bugged is “nodes” as i have heard it referred to in game. crew skills harvesting in map at a collection point like scavenging at a metals pile (desh is common for lower levels). people walk up to the node/pile/collectable, scan it and leave without collecting the material. this bugs.breaks that node until a server reset, no one can collect it, but it still shows up on the maps. but this is the only break in game that i have noticed.
