Today via a tweet on twitter from @Rockjaw (Stephen Reid) we were pointed to a official statement on the dev tracker regarding the inclusion of same gender romance arcs with your companions. The statement reads as follows,
Due to the design constraints of a fully voiced MMO of this scale and size, many choices had to be made as to the launch and post-launch feature set. Same gender romances with companion characters in Star Wars: The Old Republic will be a post-launch feature. Because The Old Republic is an MMO, the game will live on through content expansions which allow us to include content and features that could not be included at launch, including the addition of more companion characters who will have additional romance options.
So if this is something that you have been wishing for then rejoice because it is now something that has an official word from Bioware and has been slated for post launch. So now all those wanting this can now at least know that Bioware has heard your voices and has decided to include it in the post release version of the game.
One thing this shows me is that Bioware is listening to the community. This is something that doesn’t interest me in particular but it has been a cry of a big group of the community for quite some time. It appears that if enough people want a feature then they seem to be listening.
This gives us hope that they will allow the games design to be changed if a cry from the community is heard. It is always really cool to me to see the developers of a online MMO listen to the fans and decide to change things about their game.
What are your thoughts on this?
