Signs

Published by under Blog, humor on Jul. 14. 2011.

It’s hard to get away from the hype and anticipation surrounding TOR’s release date since the start of the year.
Spring has come and gone and we find ourselves smack in the middle of summer. Conventions are dotted almost to the years end. We sit and hope that the next event will bring news that we are all hoping for.
Event when BioWare flat-out say no release date will be given, we hope for a date that they will be releasing the date of said release date. It has taken over our minds and it’s all-consuming and little else matters.

StarWars TOR: Bedazzled Edition

Published by under Blog, humor on Jul. 09. 2011.

Good day my fellow SWTOR enthusiasts.  Let me start off by saying how much I regret not being able to annoy the s**t out of you wonderful people for a  few weeks due to a Move, Girlfriend, Shitty internet, Near heart attack, Medication change, Philly-Cheese steak obsession, and my personal penchant to stuff two badgers in a pillowcase and watch them fight it out like two hookers on the Vegas strip fighting over some japanese high roller.  I missed you all about as much as a herpes outbreak during spring break.

My Ten Most Anticipated Updates

Published by under Blog on Jun. 23. 2011.

I’ve seen many a Friday update come and go while following SWTOR. So I, like you, have had to ride the roller-coaster ride BioWare gives us each and every week.

We are all waiting for different things to come to light, some solid information on something that has had been shown for the breathiest of moments.

Well, these are mine. You may notice I will not mention Raids or Quests in my top ten list as I would like to experience these things in-game.

This is my list of the holly grail of reveals in reverse order of importance for me –

They Giveth And They Taketh Away

Published by under Beta,beta testing,Blog,Breaking News,community news on Jun. 16. 2011.

It’s amazing how a day of two can give you a new view on a given subject. What once was greeted with great anticipation and high hopes falls at the very first hurdle.

I’m thinking about Origin and the new wave of beta invites.

Firstly Origin, EA’s answer to Steam.

I was kind of indifferent to this news when it hit. I don’t have many Steam related games on my account as I tend to play MMO’s and you don’t need a second party platform to enjoy them fully. Also I though having SWTOR exclusive for digital download from Origin made good business sense. After all, doing it yourself gives you a greater income before the more important subs start rolling in.

A look-back At E3

Published by under Blog,E3,Events on Jun. 13. 2011.

If this was any other convention other than E3 I would be kind of pleased with what we got from the show.

But this is not just another convention, this is E3 the biggest and most anticipated show of the year.

Even though nothing was promised we expected a banquet of information. What we got started well yet fizzled out like cheap champagne once the cork was removed.

Hopes have been dashed, our banquet was reduced to a $10 meal. Everything started well true enough, per-show reveals as a good starter. The main meal of almost 1 hour of in-game footage (even lack lustre questions did not ruin it completely) then as we were set for the finest of desserts we were left wanting for 2 more days.

These days were filled with mere leftovers and regurgitated  food that we had just digested.

For everyone at E3 they see things differently. It’s amazing how hands on time sways you in favour of TOR. I wish everyone could have at least 1 hour to play along, as this would settle many people’s concerns.

But 99.99%+ of the followers have not even come close to sitting down and playing the game.

Loot – Solo V Group

Published by under Blog,Crafting,Game Mechanics on Jun. 02. 2011.

This is not just an opinion but a known fact, the best loot in-game should come from large group content END.

I could leave the statement like that and move on. But this is not my way, I will list pros and cons from both sides of the fence and push my hopes forward in the what I see as a better way forward for MMO’s on the whole.

What we know now, and I will stress to leave out as much WOW references as possible. for in my eye’s WOW broke the loot-tread-mill system to no end.

“Clears throat”

So what tends to happen in MMO’s atm is that the highest loot possible comes from end-game large raids.

You and your fellow gamers will run the same instance time and time again. With a small chance to drop your class specific items and you then you have a chance to roll on that very item. These are the best items you can find in-game and the only way to acquire them, is in those larger raid groups.

Getting Things Done Before I Leave

Published by under Blog on Jun. 01. 2011.

Over the last few weeks, Real Life has come at me full blast. My full time job has sped up in what I am doing and how much of my time I have to get things done. My family has has done the same as the youngest now moves as fast as a Ewok on a Speeder. Needless to say, my life is busy, very busy.  So, because of all of this, I am doing as much as I can before I have to leave.

You see, I have come to realize that once Swtor releases, it comes down to the Game and Real Life. As we all are so excitedly waiting for the game, I am sure you all know what I am talking about. Once the game launches, I will go into game mode. I will get tunnel vision and see nothing but Republic and Empire, Galaxy Maps and little green people that do or do not resemble something I once new. I will become a computer chair accessory and delve into the Universe on my ship. I will envelop myself into a story and my companions story. I will craft, I will fight and probably die, but I will have fun.

So when I say I have things to do before I leave, I do. I have work to get done and try to get ahead of. I have kids to play with and a Wife that I have to get chores and projects done for. I have grass to cut and weed-eat. I have a house to paint and repair. I have windows to get fixed, floors to be cleaned and sinks to replace. I have a real life that I must devote most of my time to so that I can get things done before I leave. Because once my ship launches, I may not be back for awhile.

During this time before we all set off on our journey we are all waiting for, what are you getting done? Are you letting things pile up to interrupt your new life that is closing in on you? are you working feverishly to get caught up and maybe farther on so that you can relax for the game at launch? Will you have time to relax and soak up everything as you come across it or will you be forced to cram as much play-time into as you have other things that will pull you away? So what are you doing?

Macro-roni and Cheese? Not at Launch, But…

Published by under Blog,Bounty Hunter,Breaking News,Game Mechanics,news on May. 23. 2011.

One of our favorite forum do-gooders, Georg Zoeller, dropped by the main forums today to wish us a Happy Rapt… no, my apologies!  He wanted to clear up a few things about auto-attacking, and whether or not there would be macro functionality in SWTOR at launch:

Macros are a pretty broad term for certain convenience and advanced user functions at this time. Some of those features are present as possible key binds in the game, others are not.

We’re not opposed to macros, we don’t hate them, in fact we will probably add them, but probably not for launch.

So what does this mean for us?

Server Types Pro’s And Con’s

Published by under Blog, gameplay,PvP,Role Play on May. 11. 2011.

Ever since I returned from the Fan Site Summit in Austin I’ve spent little time in Rift. This was the game that I chose to tide me over until SWTOR release. As effective of last night my sub with Rift ended. With almost 2 months until it runs out I’m not really going to play much, and atm it’s lucky if I can muster up 1 hour play over a full day. This is from someone who played no less than 6 hours + per-day every day to almost nothing.

It’s not like I have not tried to rekindle the joy of playing the game but after getting around 8 hours on TOR, Rift is now so lackluster I cant seem to get that buzz I once used to feel.

Now with TOR I was ready as always to roll out on a PvP server. Just like every other game. With PvP being quite high on my list of things that keep me playing, and you can only really get that good PvP fix on a PvP server.,

Now, I’m a little puzzled to what server to roll out on with the news that PvE servers will have PvP zones that will auto flag anyone that enters at will.

This article will be for those like me that now find themselves pondering which type of server to go play. I hope reading back through when I’m done helps me to decide also. 🙂
